Secondly, some users report that they had issues installing their motors into the new frame, because the frame ended up being too small. Please double check the size of your motors and make sure it fits the one of the frame. We have listed ten different frame models in hope that you will find the size you need.
In this review, we will try to find out what is the best drone frame, based on the material, weight, durability and usability:
DIYmall Carbon Fiber Mini 250 FPV
Carbon fiber is one of the best materials for a quadcopter frame – it is durable, lightweight and it will not break easily from fall damage. No wonder why the best and most expensive models are made of this material. The only thing you should keep in mind is that carbon fiber conducts electricity, so make sure all your wires are properly isolated.
The kit comes with all the parts of the frame, including the two base and one top carbon plates, an anti-jello camera mount and eight aluminum rods. It is extremely easy to assemble and it comes with spare nuts and screws. The frame is compact, and it has just enough space to install the electronic parts.
In brief, the DIYmall is definitely one of the best quad frame for its size and price range. It is really sturdy and easy to assemble.
Jrelecs 4-Axis HJ450
The HJ450 is another compact drone frame worth mentioning. It is designed to fly using four propellers with a size of up to 12.5 inches (about 318 mm). The frame is extremely easily to assemble, since the kit is composed of six components (four wings and two plates). The kit also includes 24 screws.
Now, about the build quality, some users report that this air frame can handle a 25 feet fall without any issues. It can handle any occasional fall easily, but it might eventually break if handled without the appropriate care. Nevertheless, it is still a solid choice for advanced pilots and probably the best drone frame for beginners.
RipaFire F330 4-Axis
This quadcopter frame is slightly more expensive than the two mentioned before. The main reason is probably because this frame comes with a reinforced compound PCB, mounted on the glass fiber frame board. The board comes with the required markings.
The average assembly time for this frame is 5 minutes. It comes with 16/19mm spacing for the motor holes and all the holes line up perfectly.
Crazepony ZMR180-RX H180
This carbon fiber drone frame is praised for its amazing durability. This frame is especially designed to be used on racer drones. It has a slightly higher profile than other 180s, which make electronics fit easier.
Unlikely most other frames of the same kind, this one has modular arms that can be easily replaced. You can mount up to 4 inch propellers to it.
Gorilla Wing H210
The H210 is extremely light – it weighs 93g, while other drones of the same category usually weight about 250g. This is even more impressive, since this frame is quite big – it works with 5 inch propellers.
It features a great design – you have enough space for all the electronics and it even includes a dedicated strap to hold the battery. It also allows you to mount the camera on different ways, allowing you to switch between racing and aerial photography camera positions easily.
Crazepony Martian RX230 QAV230
Another sturdy drone frame by Crazepony, the Martian RX230 is a great option for those, who like to fly fast. Its true carbon body has great shock resistance, while its arms feature protective points for motors. Its X design meets all the standards and therefore it is very stable for the size. It also look very stylish – the wings come in black and dark purple colors, and even the PDB looks amazingly cool.
The Martian RX230 is very compact, and some users report that it works better with small FPV cameras.
LHI 220-RX H210
The LHI has the same frame design as the QAV-R, which means that it has great stability. It is compatible with most camera models, including the famous GoPro’s.
Durability is key, and the LHI proved to handle high speed crashes really well. Its only weak spot is the top plate, which is only 1mm thick. Therefore, this frame is more suited for advanced users, or beginners who play it safe and avoid flying at max speed.
Concerning speed, the LHI is compatible with 5 inch DAL props and can handle decent motors.
This big frame suits perfectly cruiser drones. It supports up to three cameras and is often used for aerial recordings.
The F450 has high-resistance arms that are composed of a blend of PA66 nylon and carbon fiber (30%). Some users report that the frame can handle falls of up to 60 feet. While no frame is bulletproof, this one is definitely a tough guy!
It has standard mounting hole spacing of 0.63 × 0.75in/16 × 19mm, and it works with 1147 (279×119 mm) propellers.
The LHI H280 is a big carbon frame with a huge 55×55 mm box to protect the flight controller. You can use up to 5 inch props with it. Also, the frame comes with 8 motor mounting holes, 4 of which are elongated, which make it work with most motor models, ranging from 2100KV to 3100 KV.
Please notice that this model does not comes with a power distribution board. Nevertheless, those are inexpensive and you can use any compatible model, like the one by Matek.
Crazepony H210 best choice
This is definitely the best quadcopter frame you can get for $ 20 and there is little difference between this one and the QAV210 worth $75. It features an extremely sturdy design. It can take some heavy fall damage thanks to its one piece carbon fiber built and thick bottom plate.
The H210 features the same dimensions and hole placements as the QAV210. The only difference are the cutouts for the side plates for the camera. It works both with 4 and 5 inch props, though some users recommend sticking to the 4 in ones.
